Building the Climate Action Garden
We use a lot of Climate Friendly practises around the Grow West Fife community garden, but it's not always easy to know where to start at home.

Climate Action Fife has produced a Climate Friendly Gardens guide which aims to support you to grow sustainably and reduce carbon when gardening. It highlights ten ways you can make your garden more sustainable and ready to face a changing climate. As part of the Climate Action Garden network, we are building a Climate Friendly demonstration kitchen garden and documenting the steps we take.

Introduction
Welcome to the Grow West Fife Climate Action kitchen garden!

Ok, so it's not a kitchen garden yet but take a look at what we are planning over the next few months.

Covering the ground
This week we have been preparing the plot for our build. We've been removing plants and laying cardboard to help suppress weed growth.

Building the foundations
In this video we look at low carbon options for laying the foundations of our garden. This includes a solid base for our shed, paths between our growing spaces and the growing spaces themselves.

We built a shed!
We challenged ourselves to build a shed out of reclaimed materials and for less than £50. We succeeded!

Space for biodiversity
As the weather turns colder, we're joined by Fairway Fife to make sure biodiversity has space in our garden. This week we built a bug (and hedgehog) hotel, and added a bird feeder.

Water, water everywhere...
We've been thinking how we collect, store and use water in the garden, as well as how we make it available for wildlife. Join us as we make a water butt and a small, garden pond!
